Look 5 years younger now, without dropping $1,000’s!
As a mommy-entrepreneur, I’m constantly researching the latest beauty tricks and trends while running a cruelty-free Beauty Company. If you add in: being a wife, sister, friend and self-taught know-it-all/do-it-all to the mix, it’s easy to see why my fitbit informs me; I’m getting about 4 hours of sleep on average for the past two years(my son’s age).
My point is, life comes at you quickly, and sometimes you sit and look in the mirror and think, how, when, where did all those signs of aging come creeping in without a peep or warning.
It’s easy to schedule an appointment with your most recommended Dermatologist office or medi’ day spa and sign up for the latest laser or facial treatment, but let’s be honest, not everyone has the big bucks to drop or can justify spending thousands on a few wrinkles or age spots. That’s where I come in.
I want to let you in a little secret, well a few secrets that I have picked up along the way in my 10 years of being a Master Esthetician and also being the daughter to a beauty/skin guru and makeup artist. There are a few simple things you can do each day that will really make a major difference in your skins health. Shedding away years without taking a hit on your savings account.
A girl has got to get her sleep. Do you know statistically, women require more sleep on average to rebuild their cells. So, the next time you get slack about sleeping in, just throw that stat, STAT. On average you need about 8-9 hours to look, feel and perform your best. So, put your phone down and shut your eyes honey.
The easiest way for your skin to look supple and moisturized is from the purest form of hydration, water. Try to drink ½ your weight in oz. each day. This is also the best way to clear up many common skin conditions, and it’s FREE take advantage of the resources many others don’t get the luxury of having. #attitudeofgratitude always.
Get moving love! You need to clear out your system from toxins that build up over time. Hence, the best way to flush out your complexion and get the blood flowing and repairing is to get that heart rate up.
If you don’t have a fancy gym membership, that’s ok, a 30 min fast walk or some at-home strength training moves(which I’ll be posting to the blog this week) will do the trick.
4. The best exfoliator
This is a trick that was passed down from my mother. I used to watch her do this every night before she applied a moisturizing vitamin night mask/cream. Keep a stash of clean wash clothes near your sink or shower, after you’ve removed your makeup, gently exfoliate with warm (not hot) water in small upward circular motions. Be mindful not to drag the skin “down”, if you lift the skin, it will act as a mini facelift over time.
Keep in mind, if you have active acne, be extremely gentle as this could flare and worsen the acne. - Foundation Primer
Whether you wear foundation or not, using a skin primer will help to fill in those fine lines, wrinkles, any scars and post acne scars. Think of it as though your face is a “filler” to smooth out and fill in any small imperfections creating an even smooth seamless surface. You can wear with or without foundation as you prefer. However, if you do wear foundation, I never recommend skipping this important step. - Omega 3’s

- Chia Seeds
- Flax Seeds
- Hemp Seeds
- Mustard Oil
- Winter Squash
- Leafy Greens
- Cabbage Family
- Fresh Berries
- Wild Rice
- Herbs and Spices (plus these will help you eliminate salt, double win)
- Mangoes (or Man-Joes as my 2 year old would say)
- Honeydew Melon
- Olive Oil (raw)
- Cashews, Walnuts, Almonds and Pistachios
- For those of you non-vegans, salmon is a wonderful source as well.
