The weather has been SO nice lately and it’s getting even nicer as the temperatures start to cool off a bit. Lots of camping, hiking, boating trips have been filling my weekends the past couple of months. While it’s a great exercise for your body and mind, all that dirt, sun, and wind can push the skin to its limit. Because of this, the skin of all outdoorsy folks needs special attention, period. When you’re packing light and spending a lot of time outside, it is easy to neglect your skin.

So what’s a fan of the great outdoors supposed to do?

3 Steps to Keep Your Skin Healthy

Keeping your skin healthy is obtainable even while enjoying time in the wilderness. Simply focus on three easy steps in your skincare routine: (1) Cleanse; (2) Protect; and (3) Repair.

Step 1: Cleanse

Everyone should be washing their face twice a day, morning, and night. But it is especially important to stay consistent with your skincare routine when spending time outside. Use a cleanser and a hydrating product with salicylic acid to clarify. If your skin is oily or breaking out, an acne serum with activated charcoal and salicylic acid will keep breakouts at bay. In addition to cleansing, use a soft-grain exfoliant to decongest pores. Wondering if your washing process is enough to really clean your skin and keep your skin healthy? Here is our step-by-step guide to cleaner skin.

Step 2: Protect

Sunscreen is extremely important when spending extended periods of time outside. An SPF factor of at least 30 is recommended for your face. If your CC cream or foundation contains SPF, that is a great start, but you should still be sure to add another layer of SPF when spending a lot of time outside. The best protection is to avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm and be extra mindful of whether the intensity of the heat begins to irritate your skin. Prolonged sun exposure may cause the appearance of bumps and uneven splotches on your face and body, so be sure to take regular breaks in the shade. When choosing a sunscreen, take into account your skin type and choose one that will compliment that skin type and not cause you to have overly oily, or irritated skin. Always follow up on your sun exposure by hydrating your body from the inside out. Drink plenty of water and try an overnight intensive moisturizing treatment such as MintPear’s Rosehip Night Serum.  Do you also have sensitive skin? Step 3: Repair

As important as it is to protect your skin, it is arguably equally important to repair it as well. Not only are a solid eight hours of snooze crucial for your well-being, but your skin can reap some overnight skincare benefits, too. An easy way to repair your skin is to use products to moisturize and heal overnight. Nighttime sleep is when the skin naturally repairs and renews itself. Many overnight treatments work with the body’s natural circadian rhythm and target the skin when it’s most receptive. MintPear’s Rosehip Night Serum is a fantastic healing skincare product to use nightly to repair your skin from any damage from the day. This night serum is an all-natural, pure, and organic nighttime treatment to repair and heal your skin’s texture, and overall appearance.
