4 Tips For Healthy Holiday Hair

Wow! I can’t believe the holidays are right around the corner! I’m not sure about you guys, but with the year we’ve all had I am excited about the happiness that the holiday brings! Since we all want to look our best during the holiday season, I think it’s a great time to show our hair a little extra love. In this post, I want to expand on hair care and some easy things you can do to have heal, even while we stay safe at home, and in the years to come when we are able to safely gather with family and friends again.

These are the tips and tricks that I swear by, and how I’ve managed to keep my hair looking healthy and shiny, despite the amount of heat I apply to my hair. Keep reading for my 4 tips for healthy holiday hair!

1. When You Can, Ditch The Heat

Of course, we’d all like to have perfectly styled and curled hair every day, but using blow dryers, flat irons, and curling wands constantly really does a number on your hair. When you can, let your hair air-dry. Also, if you have the time, let your hair dry in braids or a bun so when you take it out it’s curly without any heat at all!

If the thought of a holiday gathering without the perfect blow-out makes you cringe, opt for no-heat styling for the rest of the season. There are plenty of air-dry products on the market to keep your hair smooth without the heat—not to mention wraps, scarves, hats, and braids that will keep you stylish without any damage. Another great hairstyle idea that is super easy is to try some no-heat curlers.

2. Schedule Your Haircut

It’s amazing what cutting those dead, split ends can do for your hair. Schedule a hair appointment now for before the holidays and get yourself a fresh trim. It’s amazing the difference it can make on your hair to cut an inch or two off the ends. You’ll be feeling like a new woman!

Not only do you get an instant lift, but cutting off those split ends before they travel up your hair prevents tons of unnecessary damage. Split ends are bad enough, but if left untrimmed, that split can lead to the hair shaft breaking, causing frizz and flyaways. Get your hair cut sooner rather than later! A lot of the time, you need an adjustment period to get used to your new cut, and it’s infinitely better to get that out of the way early.

3. Self Care Is SO Important

You’re going in a million different directions, so don’t let taking care of yourself be pushed aside. Carve a half-hour out of your week to light some candles, draw a bath, and put on a hair masque.

Relaxing during this hectic season is so important. Stress can lead to hair loss, so you’re really multitasking while you kick back and let your hair mask do its thing.

Deep conditioning treatment with nourishing oils, vitamins, botanical extracts, and essential oils can strengthen your hair give both it and your scalp the extra boost that they’ve been craving. MintPear’s Jojoba Oil is rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish hair, including vitamin C, B vitamins, vitamin E, copper, and zinc. Because it strengthens hair, it is also thought that Jojoba Oil can prevent hair loss and promote hair thickness.

4. Invest in a Good Quality Blow Dryer

We all know the damage that heating and hairstyling tools can do to our hair. They strip the moisture out and can lead to breakage very fast. But, if you’re anything like me, you can’t let go of these heating tools. My hair can’t decide if it wants to be straight or wavy, so I rely on my blow dryer and other styling tools to tame it!

You will probably cringe reading this, but I actually had my Conair blow dryer for over 15 years before I finally got rid of it! Yes, 15 years!!! It was cheap, it was loud, it would take forever, but it eventually got the job done. I have no clue what I was thinking for all of those years because when I finally discovered the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer, it was like hearing angels sing! If you’re not up for spending a pretty penny on a hairdryer, there are many affordable options that have lower heat options that still dry your hair quickly. Curious about trying a hair-dryer brush?
