3 Make-up Mistakes Making You Look Older

As we continue to focus on how we can improve the health of our skin by reducing signs of aging such as sunspots and fine lines, I also want to bring light to a subject that is equally important to pay attention to, and that is our makeup habits.  Our make-up mistakes might be the culprit to making us look older.

It is easy to get into a daily routine over time. Especially when it comes to the daily grind. Including our get-ready-routine. I’m covering some of these Makeup Habits below that might actually be doing you a disservice by aging you.

How to know if you need to mix-it-up:

Much like a hairstyle, it’s important to be aware and stay current on ever-changing makeup trends and products as new ones are improving and developing rapidly. Think of it as an upgrade to older products and makeup trends. The best way to do this is to do a quick google search for: “trending makeup 2019” or “what makeup trends to ditch 2019”. Both of these searches will help you re-think your makeup game. So you can Slay On Queen!

First quick tip that I want to share with you is:

1. Too Much Under Eye Concealer

This is a no-no because it actually does the opposite of what you are attempting to achieve. Adding too much product to this area will only add unwanted texture and creasing product. Also, if the color is too light for the area, you will only attract more attention to those under eye circles  you are attempting to cover.

Instead, try out some of the more popular light-weight concealers and use sparingly setting with a finishing powder to avoid creasing and movement thru-out the day.

#2.  Thin Eyebrows

Eyebrows are also much like a haircut/style. They are ever changing. You want to be sure you are keeping up with the Kardashians when it comes to your brow game. There is no other dead giveaway to your age quite like your brow shape. Don’t be caught walking around with those over groomed early 2000 brows, aka Angelina/Christina Brows.

Instead, opt for a more natural more full brow. The good part about the recent trends, a larger brow will not only make your entire face more youthful, it will help to balance your face based on the golden ratio (Here is a link to achieving perfect Brows). It will also require less time on grooming. Win win.

3. Too Defined/Lined Lips

Yes, most of us would love to wake up to a plump and youthful pout much like you see all over instagram these days, but the truth is, most of us are just not born with those Kylie-Full-Lips, not even she was born with them. However, a lot of us attempt to overcompensate by drawing our lips bigger with liner, and this my friend is never a good look.

Instead, within reason you can enhance your own natural shape, but always keep the shade of the lip liner within 1-2 shades of the lipstick/gloss and refrain from ever outlining your lips beyond their natural shape. This trick only works for filming, and never fools anyone in real life interactions.

I hope you find these tips helpful and be sure to leave a comment below if you have any input or questions. Thank you for your support and love!

Rita,

XOXO
